Can shyness be inherited?

According to a new study started by CNN out loneliness may be caused by genetics. Some people find loneliness comforting while other's become sad, emotional and depressed. This feeling of loneliness stems from the fact that" loneliness is evolutionary, experts say. Humans would not survive in the wild alone." So the next time you feel lonely know it may not be a hormone imbalance, but your bodies way to correct its need for interaction.

Thats a cool way to look at that. i don't really buy evolutionary psychology, but that theory sounds pretty good.

Intresting, I never knew lonliness was part of a evolutionary process.

I've never thought of loneliness that way before, but I guess it makes sense. I like being around people, but sometimes I emjoy being by myself too. You have a good point!

Wow. Sometimes its great to have people around, but a lot of the time you just need to have time to yourself. So how does the evolutionary theory explain loners then?

i think that lonliness is nice sometimes, because sometimes you just need to be alone. but a person should not enjoy lonliness all the time.
im not sure if i believe that it can be inherited though. that is an interesting theory.
